Purchase: Amazon

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Displaying 1393556_398822760221369_1745121084_n.jpgTwo Wars, One Destiny. Seventeen-year-old Edyn Vella always knew that her strange dreams of the future made her unique, but she never knew what they meant. However, when she fails to stop her aunt's murder by an ominous vampiric creature, Edyn learns that her prophetic visions aren't the only superhuman ability she possesses.

Following her late aunt's clues, Edyn finds herself in New York City attempting to save her last surviving relative, the powerful and reclusive billionaire, Ethan Roux. Edyn not only discovers Ethan isn't exactly human, but that she is at the center of an ancient prophecy and could determine the outcome of an impending war.

As Ethan's Omega, his only human descendant, she's thrust into an enigmatic world full of new supernatural creatures where both good and evil vampires and warlocks have waged a centuries-long battle for the fate of humanity. Just as her relationship with the mysterious and handsome Brendan begins to blossom, Edyn's complicated new life quickly spirals out of control when ancient evil becomes determined on making her one of them. Edyn must discover her inner strength while making the choice between a long life without love and a potentially short life full of it.

The Bellum Prophecy is a dark, suspenseful new novel that explores the loss of innocence while coming of age in the midst of a battle between good and evil. Combining the best elements of vampire legend, the supernatural, and even magic, L. Marie Horton uses exciting action and a cutting-edge story to craft a refreshing new take on young adult fiction.

REVIEW:

Although it took me a little while to get into this book once it captured my attention I lost myself in The Bellum Prophecy. There is a strength to Edyn that you recognize from the very beginning of the story. I really appreciated that she wasn't a weak female protagonist or overly feminine.

I really enjoyed the mixture of supernatural and reality Horton brings to her novel. I could easily see fans of Buffy becoming enthralled in Edyn's story. The mystery really pulls you in and has you looking forward to what happens next.

I must say was happy to have some vampires that weren't all sexy or shimmery in this one. I appreciate a variety of vampire tales and the differences in the vampires that each one carries. I simply enjoyed that it was different from a lot of what is out right now,

I have to admit though that I didn't really like the romance all that much. I prefer the romances I read about be built over time. When it happens to fast it just doesn't ring true to me and I find it irks me a bit,

Overall an enjoyable read.

 Displaying The_boy_final.jpg

Can you cross the plains of death, collect every piece of your soul and make it back to the land of the living?

And if you complete the journey, will your loved ones welcome your return?

The Ramyan have been answering such questions since the creation of The Sanctum. A mysterious sect of Magicals, haunting the blank spaces of time and memory, they serve no one but themselves and their higher purpose. They exist on a plane removed from earthly matters, shifting easily between the living and the dead, moving to the beat of their own drummer.

At least they did. Dev and Wyatt change all of that when the prophesied hybrid lands on the steps of Rinshun Palace, seeking help for the wounded Class A Warrior. That decision alters lives and sets old agendas back on course. But at what cost to Dev and Wyatt? And does that really even matter?

Displaying 2 books together.jpg

SUMMARY of THE GIRL

The Sanctum, an all-powerful governing body founded by ten families, entrusted to maintain the peace amongst Magicals and ensure the ignorance of humans, has been corrupted by greed and savagery for generations, but is all Wyatt Clayworth has ever known.

A descendant of one of the Founding Families and Class A Warrior, Wyatt has always believed in the ways of The Sanctum, having grown up in the system and thrived under their leadership. A golden boy, renowned for his prowess and skill in battle, Wyatt has never questioned a mission or kill order until the night he crosses paths with a brutally injured and mysterious girl.

Scouring Central Park with his best friend and fellow Class A Warrior, Ryker Morrison, for the hybrid demon prophesied to bring an end to The Sanctum and destroy the world for Magicals and humans alike, Wyatt instead finds Dev and his whole life turns upside down. Told he was hunting a killing machine, hellbent on wreaking havoc and destruction upon all it encounters, Wyatt instead sees nothing more than a broken girl with haunted eyes and a bit of a death wish.

All Dev wants is for Wyatt to either kill her or leave her alone. When he refuses to do either, she finds herself being pulled into his life while being hunted by warriors everywhere she turns. Drawn to one another for reasons they cannot begin to explain to themselves, much less anyone else, Wyatt is determined to protect Dev and help her realize her mission to avenge the deaths of her family at the hands of The Sanctum. His abdication of his duties and his outright rejection of his responsibilities to The Sanctum create a maelstrom of events beyond anyone’s imagination.

Madhuri Blaylock is a lawyer by day, writer and avid shoe and dress buyer at all other times. She lives in Jersey City, but her heart remains firmly planted in Brooklyn via Snellville, Georgia. Her husband, Henry, is also a lawyer, and only a lawyer because he actually likes being a lawyer (go figure), probably always wanted to be a lawyer and is really, really good at all things lawyerly. He's also pretty hot.

She’s got a big kid, Miss Sydney, and a little kid, the one and only Dash. They're awesome and fierce and supremely cool and able to make her laugh at the strangest things. She would love to add a dog, some chickens, a goat and a burro to this crew. Everyone needs a burro.

Some of her favorites, in no particular order: ice cream, Kill Bill, four-inch heels, Matt Damon, tattoos, Laini Taylor, scotch on the rocks, The Sanctum trilogy, random office supplies, Martha's Vineyard, "The Girl" aka my Mini, Rihanna, Doc Martens, tulips, photo booths and dancing like a fool.

One day she plans to grow up. Right now, she’s enjoying the adventure.

The Princess Fables by Marc Clark

About the Book

Title: The Princess Fables | Author: Marc Clark | Illustrator: Eric Hosford | Publication Date: December 5, 2013 | Publisher: Seven C's Productions | Pages: 115 | Recommended Ages: 3+ Summary: The Origins of THE PRINCESS FABLES: When the author's daughter was just beginning the first grade, she was not happy about school. So when he would wake her each morning, whatever she would say to get out of going became the subject for a PRINCESS FABLE. If she'd say, "I don't want to," he'd make up a tale about The Princess Who Always Said, "I Don't Wanna". If she pulled the covers over her head, he'd tell her the story of The Princess Who Hid Under The Covers. By the end of each Fable he'd have her dressed and ready for school, with her eyes wide open and full of hope... THE PRINCESS FABLES are eleven inspirational stories for young girls who may still dream of being a Princess. Each Princess embarks on an adventure of self discovery and along the way, learns about the importance of trust, devotion, courage and the power of love. These classic tales transport little girls to a time and place where they are the heroines and can create their own happy endings. Every delicate pen and ink illustration reflects the classic fairy tale drawings of the late 19th century. Award: The Princess Fables was just awarded an Honorable Mention at the 2014 Los Angeles Book Festival.

Eternal Mixture Review and Giveaway

Release date: November 1st 2013
Publisher: Words Written LLC

  18757744
BOOK DESCRIPTION:
If you had the chance to start your life over, would you take it? If you were told you would live for eternity, would you embrace it? If a stranger told you he was your soul mate, would you believe it?

Raina Richmond has played it safe her entire life. She has never broken the rules. That is, until Brent Alexander walked straight into her life, causing havoc. Turning her world upside down.

Brent is the new kid in town. He is every girl’s fantasy: adorable, charming, chiseled, and the typical boy Raina usually steers clear of. But there is just something about him she can’t seem to resist. Safe is no longer an option for her. For him, she breaks all the rules.

What she doesn’t realize is that he holds the key to her past, present, and future. Once he reveals the reasons behind their irrevocable connection, she will unlock the answers to all of her questions, and her life as she knows it will never be the same again.

 REVIEW:

Eternal Mixture was a cute read about what life would be like for a group of immortals and one very special girl that keeps being reincarnated.

Brent's character was well developed and he came across as very nice, if not a little possesive, but in context it is understandable.

Although a bit of a goody two shoes Raina is a believable protagonist. She cares deeply about her friends, tries not to hurt others, feels awkward around those not in her group of friends and  is insecure. What teenage girl hasn't felt that from time to time?

Although in some places I wished that Raina and Brent didn't have as much passion for one another as they do the romance was sweet and the story took a couple fun twists along the way.

A great one for the beach this summer!

*There is some mature content in this one. It isn't too graphic and it doesn't go too far.

Hello World!

Hello Lovely Readers!

So David and I finally completed our move to Southern California. Yay! We are so excited to be back home and close to our friends and family.

This also means that I may be posting less for awhile since this little cutie is now a major part of our lives...

Because of Riley being in our lives now I am considering expanding Library of the Seen to include picture books through new adult books.

What do you guys think?

I will still be reading and reviewing books as often as possible but it will probably be only one or two books a week. Luckily I will still be posting book blasts and cover reveals as well. I will also probably be writing a lot more about what is going on in my life as well.

I hope all the changes are positive ones and that you will stay with me!

REVIEW:

First I must say that I love books that contain mythology, fate and alternative civilizations so right off the bat Justice Buried was a great pick for me.

Justice Buried was a unique and interesting read that instantly pulled me right in. Hillary Thompson brilliantly weaves her tale to include astrology and the zodiac in ways I haven't seen before.

Thompson's characters show great realism by having strength and never but also by being flawed (nobody is perfect!) And honestly how can you dislike a novel with a strong female protagonist and a love triangle?

A definite must read.

How I Got Skinny, Famous, and Fell Madly In Love Review & Playlist

Synopsis

“Thick. Heavy. Big boned. Plump. Full figured. Chunky. Womanly. Large. Curvy. Plus-size. Hefty.” To sixteen-year-old Emery Jackson, these are all just euphemisms for the big “F” word—”fat.” Living on a Southern California beach with her workout fiend dad, underwear model sister, and former model mother, it is impossible for Emery not to be aware of her weight.

Emery is okay with how things are. That is, until her “momager” signs her up for Fifty Pounds to Freedom, a reality show in which Emery will have to lose fifty pounds in fifty days in order to win the million dollars that will solve her family’s financial woes. Emery is skeptical of the process, but when the pounds start to come off and the ratings skyrocket, she finds it hard to resist the adoration of her new figure and the world of fame. Emery knows that things have changed. But is it for the better?

Review:

As I started reading How I Got Skinny, Famous and Fell Madly In Love I had mixed feelings. At first reading about Emery made me feel bad about myself.

I try to be very open and honest about the fact that I have, and probably always will, struggle with eating issues. I was the opposite of Emery, starving myself instead of overeating.

Even though my struggles with eating weren't the same as Emery's I definitely felt a kinship.

Like Emery I hid food in secret places in my room. My secret shame, eating empty diary calories. Ken Baker hit it right on the head as he speaks through Emery. The comfort and shame that such an action brings.

Emery's video blogs go straight to the heart expressing everything I grew up thinking as a teenager living near Los Angeles in an image obsessed world.

Emery's journey of self discovery is, in its own way, beautiful in its heart wrenching honesty. Ken Baker writes so well I found myself forgetting that this is nit a true diary and Emery is not real. Ken Baker fills a void in young adult literature giving us an amazingly strong girl with a voice and a message for all of us with body image issues.

"The difference between being ugly and beautiful has zero to do with your appearance." (Baker 262)
